Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon to star in John Krokidas’ TUNNELS

Highland Film Group announced today that Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, “Feud,” “Ray Donovan”) will star in John Krokidas’ (Kill Your Darlings) Tunnels. The screenplay is written by Victoria Rose (The Time Capsule, Brimming with Love). Colin Bates (Maggie) and Michael Jefferson (Blame) will produce under the Lucidity Entertainment banner with Ethan Terra and Cindy Bru serving as executive producers.  Lucidity Entertainment is currently in production on Son of the South. Circle of Confusion’s Matt Smith (Maleficent) and Brad Mendelsohn (Rim of the World) will produce along with Circle of Confusion’s Frank Frattaroli, who will executive produce. Circle of Confusion is the management and production company behind AMC’s hit series “The Walking Dead.” Highland Film Group is handling international sales which will launch in Cannes.

In the wake of a school shooting, an unlikely friendship develops between Ruby Love (Sarandon), the grandmother who raised the shooter, and Grayson Mitchell, the teenage brother of one of the victims, when paired to work together at the local supermarket.  An inspiring and surprisingly funny story of two outsiders helping each other to find hope in a town still too stuck in its recent history to see the potential of something beautiful on the horizon.
