Beacon Pictures Launches Comedy Series About Cryptocurrency HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE

Beacon Pictures announces the first ever scripted television series all about crypto, for crypto and financed by crypto, “Hold on for Dear Life.” The project has been developed into a 10-episode comedy series, with principal photography set to commence in August in Puerto Rico.

This series is ground-breaking in its implementation of blockchain technology and will make history as the first ever television series to tokenize portions of its net profits into an ERC20 security token: For Dear Life (FDL). FDL is built on Ethereum using underlying smart contracts which enable FDL token holders to receive pro rata net profits from the series directly into their digital wallets holding FDL tokens.

Season One of the series’ NFT (non-fungible token) is also being minted. These NFTs will be based upon original art, proprietary content and IP from the show such as characters, storylines, outtakes, scores and original art. Collaborating with ultra-talented NFT artists, the series aims to lead television into a new era, with discussions of releasing an entire episode as an NFT.

“Hold on for Dear Life” is Executive Produced by Beacon Pictures’ Mark Pennell, along with Christina Martin and Massimiliano Musina of MAP Group. The series is created by a pseudo-anonymous crypto insider, Suhh Toshee, who has contributed significantly to the Writers Room.

Absurd, hilarious and crypto accurate, the story centers around a young tech founder, Mel, as she launches a token named after her best friend, Aveer, who disappeared. Mel and a squad of misfits—Elvis the crypto anarchist; Bear the lambo-bro; DiNo the digital nomad; Liberty the opensource purist; and even Satoshi—give their all in pursuit of Mel’s vision for the Aveer token. To do so, they must overcome enemies, centralized powers, and FUD (Fear Uncertainty Doubt). Wild, inspiring and mind-bending, this series will surely leave audiences…holding on for dear life!

Casting is currently underway for the lead roles. From the crypto community, there will be cameo appearances by iconic crypto thought leaders including Tim Draper (prominent venture capitalist and tech billionaire who recently purchased nearly 30,000 BTC), Jeremy Gardner (Augur founder & crypto investor, now CEO of MadeMan) and Crystal Rose (Founder and CEO of SENSE).

Diversity, equality, decentralization, radical inclusion and innovation are priorities as the series heads into pre-production. Beacon Pictures’ Mark Pennell says: “Crypto is about community. The show is an extension of that community. So, we embraced the innovation by creating an opportunity for crypto entrepreneurs to participate in a show that reflects many of their own stories.  As far as I know, this is the first mainstream TV show to be financed by Bitcoin and Ethereum.”
