Perhaps the Sony CEO was not putting the cart before the horse when he pegged “Uncharted” as the “new hit movie franchise,” as “Uncharted,” behind its $23,250,000 (-47.2%) second weekend (in the US), has cast its sails past $226 million worldwide. “Uncharted” has made $83,385,478 in two weeks domestically, but the impressive $143 million overseas haul is all the more impressive.

Channing Tatum’s directorial debut, “Dog,” has also had an impressive box office run. After a $14 million debut, the film went on to gross $10,127,944 (-32%) in its second weekend.

The two big releases this weekend both came in a bit under expectations as “Studio 666” and “Cyrano” finished in eighth and ninth place. The Foo Fighters-led horror flick grossed $1,580,000, an average of just $685 per-theater, and “Cyrano” grossed $1,400,101 in its limited release. “Cyrano” has had an up and down ride with its original release slated for Chrstmastime before it got pushed to January and then settling for late February. A shame for a legitametly great musical that should have receieved more Oscar love, but that is besides the point. Speaking of the Oscars, the annual live-action shorts marathon played in 355 theaters and grossed $402,200.
