Character Breakdown (Open Ethnicity for All Roles):
M’Lynn Eatenton (50-60): Shelby’s strong, supportive mother, the backbone of the family, who always strives to keep things together.
Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie (20s-30s): M’Lynn’s diabetic daughter, full of charm and determination, who wants to live life to the fullest despite her health challenges.
Truvy Jones (40-50): The warm and funny owner of the beauty salon, who believes in the power of a great hairstyle to solve life’s problems.
Annelle Dupuy-Desoto (20s): Truvy’s shy and awkward new assistant, who undergoes a significant transformation throughout the play.
Clairee Belcher (60-70): The witty and wealthy widow of the former mayor, always ready with a sarcastic remark but full of wisdom.
Ouiser Boudreaux (60-70): The town’s cantankerous, no-nonsense old lady with a sharp tongue and rough exterior, but ultimately a loyal friend.
