Writer/Director David Stassen Adds Evangeline Lilly and Ike Barinholtz to Debut Feature Comedy HAPPY LIFE

Highland Film Group has announced that David Stassen (“The Mindy Project,” The Oath, Blockers) is set to write and direct his debut feature film Happy Life. The comedy will star Evangeline Lilly (Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Endgame, “Lost”) and Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad, Neighbors, “The Mindy Project”), with Stassen and Barinholtz also serving as producers alongside Andrew Robinson and Aperture Media Productions. Highland Film Group has come on board to handle international sales which will begin in Cannes this month. UTA Independent Film Group is handling the US sale.

Happy Life follows new mom Allison Beck (Lilly), who suspects her workaholic husband Eli (Barinholtz) of having an affair with an Instagram star. One mistake after another leads her into the arms of a younger man as she struggles to come to terms with her life decisions and be the mother she aspires to be. Principal photography will commence this summer.

Lilly shot to fame for her role on the J.J. Abrams series, “Lost”, and has since starred in the blockbuster smash hits Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Endgame and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. She will also appear in the upcoming drama Dreamland, starring opposite Gary Oldman and Armie Hammer.

Barinholtz has starred in numerous hit films including Suicide Squad, Blockers, Neighbors and will next appearin Amazon’s upcoming film Late Night alongside Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling. His TV credits include the recently relaunched The Twilight Zone,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”and “The Mindy Project.”

Stassen is a writer/producer known for comedies including Blockers starring Leslie Mann, John Cena and Ike Barinholtz, The Oath starring Tiffany Haddish and Barinholtz, Central Intelligence with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, Mindy Kaling’s “The Mindy Project” and the upcoming Crime After Crime starring Awkwafina and Barinholtz. Happy Life will be his directorial debut.
