Saban Films Acquires Wedding Comedy SISTER OF THE GROOM Starring Alicia Silverstone

Saban Films announces that they have acquired North American rights to the Alicia Silverstone (Book Club) wedding comedy Sister of the Groom from Premiere Entertainment Group (PEG), a Los Angeles-based sales, production and financing company.  Written and directed by Amy Miller Gross (Accommodations), the film also co-stars Tom Everett Scott (truTV’s I’m Sorry), Jake Hoffman (The Irishman) and Mathilde Ollivier (Overlord).  Miller Gross produced for Mandorla Productions alongside Andrew Carlberg and Tim Harms.

Sister of the Groom follows a woman (Silverstone) who tries to put a halt to her brother’s marriage to a much younger French woman over the course of their wedding weekend in the Hamptons. Silverstone served as executive producer and Justin Scutieri co-produced.

Charlie Bewley (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn), Noah Silver (“Tyrant”), Mark Blum (“Mozart in the Jungle”), Julie Engelbrecht (The Last Witch Hunter) and Ronald Guttman (On the Basis of Sex) round out the key cast. Silverstone and Everett Scott also previously appeared as a married couple in 2017’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul for 20th Century Fox.

Jonathan Saba negotiated the deal for Saban Films along with Elias Axume and Devin Carter of Premiere Entertainment on behalf of the filmmakers.  Premiere Entertainment handled worldwide sales.  Sister of the Groom will be released by Saban Films, with plans to be announced at a later date.
