The Traveling Picture Show Company (TPSC) has acquired the hotly sought-after life rights to Mario Tabraue, the fascinating standout from Netflix’s “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”.  TPSC has partnered with Anonymous Content to develop a limited series based on Tabraue’s life with Emmy Award nominated Adam Penn (“American Horror Story”, “Mr. Robot”, “9-1-1”) set to write the series.  Kevin Matusow, Carissa Buffel, Luisa Iskin and Johnny Wunder of TPSC and Diana Fitzgerald are producing alongside Anonymous Content.  The series will follow Tabraue’s life from his younger days through his drug trafficking and prison years all the way up to present day.

In Netflix’s “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”, a documentary brimming with larger than life, stranger than fiction characters, Tabraue stands out as one of the most unforgettable, compelling and mysterious subjects.  Tabraue, well known as a notorious drug kingpin and exotic animal enthusiast, operated a decades long, multi-million drug trafficking organization in the 1980s, one of the biggest in Miami at the time.  Tabraue is widely hailed as the inspiration for the character Tony Montana in 1983’s iconic Scarface.  Tabraue was sentenced to 100 years in prison for which he served 12 before being released.  He has since founded the Zoological Wildlife Foundation in Miami where he maintains an extremely private life.
