They’re coming back, and reuniting the two stars for another Bad Boys is a nice feather in Sony’s announcement cap.
Sony Pictures confirmed the sequel is in the pre-production phase, with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah returning to direct. Their work in the threequel was heavily praised and amassed $426.5 million in theaters, making it one of the mighty success stories before the pandemic reared its head against the entertainment industry for the remainder of 2020.
Will Smith took to social media (linked here) Tuesday morning to announce the exciting news, pulling up to his costar’s residence and shouting, “It’s about that time!” Both men confirm the fourth chapter is occurring before making a joke about the previous title’s name.
Bad Boys 4 will mark Will Smith’s significant return to the grand screen after the controversial incident with Chris Rock at the Academy Awards last year, while Martin Lawrence will taste the heat again after the 2020 predecessor.
The release date and other details are TBA.
