Priyanka Chopra Jonas is returning to Amazon Studios alongside Idris Elba and John Cena in the newly titled Head of State feature. Pre-production has commenced, with filming beginning next month.
Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry, Nobody) has signed on to direct the feature, and Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec write the script based on Harrison Query’s idea. No plot details have been revealed besides describing it as “Air Force One meets Midnight Run.” Peter Safran and John Rickard are producers, and Cena and Elba will be executive producers.
In the meantime, Chopra is releasing a spy series Citadel that drops on streaming on April 28th alongside Richard Madden.
Head of State also marks the second time that Idris Elba and John Cena will work together after their duo-onscreen rivalry in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The former is also concurrently working on the spinoff Knuckles series, while the latter will be a part of the upcoming Fast X that drops on May 19th.
The release date is TBD, even though 2024 might become plausible.
