Apply now for 2024 TIFF–CBC Films Screenwriter Award

Now in its 7th year, the TIFF–CBC Films Screenwriter Award was created to support Canada’s emerging screenwriting talent and to fund the development of great Canadian screenplays. The Award provides $15,000 to a Canadian writer of an outstanding feature-film screenplay, as well as mentorship opportunities to support them in the development of their project.

The Award is open to all screenwriters from equity-deserving communities.

The winner of the 2023 Award was Yasmine Mathurin for her screenplay Sorry Pardon Madame. Past Award winners also include Tracey Deer and Meredith Vuchnich in 2019, who went on to premiere their selected screenplay Beans (2020) at the Toronto International Film Festival and won Canadian Screen Awards for Best Motion Picture and Best First Feature.

Don’t miss this opportunity to accelerate your next project from script to screen. Applications close at 11:59pm ET on Monday, January 8, 2024
