Compared to earlier adaptations, the series takes a darker, more adult approach to reimagining the heroine and her exploits. Developed by Julie Plec, “The Originals” is an American television show that is a spin-off of “The Vampire Diaries.” “The Originals” centers around Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah Mikaelson, the first vampires in history. In the show’s first episode, Klaus returns to his old neighborhood in New Orleans’ French Quarter, where he meets up with his family after a breakup and gets entangled in the paranormal politics of the area. The Mikaelsons face fresh dangers and obstacles besides old foes from their history. The prominent characters in the story are:

• The charismatic and erratic hybrid vampire-werewolf Klaus Mikaelson, played by Joseph Morgan.
