Filmmaker Vicky Du makes her directorial debut with Light of the Setting Sun, a documentary following her family’s war-torn history spanning three generations and countries: China, Taiwan, and the United States. Through archival footage, interviews, and personal reflections, Du explores how inherited trauma, insecurity, and the effects of war shape identity and legacy, starting from her family’s escape from the 1949 Chinese Communist Revolution.

Light of the Setting Sun will open at DCTV Firehouse Cinema in New York on April 18.
