Officially, today, the news popped that the sequel to A Minecraft Movie will be titled: A Minecraft Movie Squared.

This came about during Minecraft Live, with several game presentations announced, plans for the movie’s sequel, and a challenge for gamers to design a world to be used in the sequel. Jack Black will return as Steve, along with Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, and Danielle Brooks, who will return in their respective roles. Kirsten Dunst will join as Alex, Steve’s female counterpart. Jared Hess returns to helm the sequel, while also writing the script alongside Chris Galletta.

Filming is currently underway in New Zealand. Produced by Legendary Pictures and Mojang Studios.

A Minecraft Movie Squared releases on July 23, 2027.
