WILL POULTER CASTED AS ADAM WARLOCK FOR JAMES GUNN’S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

Finally, news has surfaced regarding who would play Adam Warlock in James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. And the actor is none other than Will Poulter, notable for his performances in We’re the Millers, The Revenant, and The Maze Runner series.

The superhero character was teased during one of the many post-credits scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 when Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha is furious over not eliminating the Guardians for stealing from her race. Deciding that they need the next step in the Sovereign race’s evolution, she looks at a cocoon of sorts and names it “Adam.”

If anyone has read the comics, Adam Warlock was designed by the late Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, debuting in Fantastic Four #66 (and #67) and Thor #163-166. His powers are incredibly potent, ranging from superhuman abilities to manipulating cosmic energy to immortality. And in some cases, he has been associated with the Soul Gem (considered the Soul Stone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which Thanos destroyed).

If it’s any indication, he fits snugly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s post-Endgame plans as they continue to unravel the multiverse and unknown timelines on Disney+ shows and their upcoming films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. James Gunn will give the character considerable time in the third Guardians adventure, and he might lead the next Avengers team. Given that Poulter is also at the young age of 28, he could step in the shoes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, or Tom Holland to lead the next decade of Marvel works.

The studio has been tight-lipped about the plot details, and filming initiates next month. Welcome to the MCU Will Poulter.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will release on May 5, 2023.
