Saban Films has acquired the North American distribution rights to director Derrick Borte’s upcoming film American Dreamer. The film made its world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival to a sold-out house.
American Dreamer tells the story of a driver who makes extra cash chauffeuring a low-level drug dealer around town. However, this task becomes serious when the driver decides to steal the dealer’s child because of money troubles. The film then follows the driver as the drug dealer in search of the missing child. The film stars Jim Gaffigan in his debut lead performance, alongside Robbie Jones, Isabel Arraiza, Alejandro Hernandez, and Tammy Blanchard.
Bill Bromiley, president of Saban Films, commented on the film saying “Borte has helmed an intimate and unsettling film. Gaffigan performs as never seen before; he brings to life a subtle and tense portrait.”
