While I wasn’t the biggest fan of Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis,” I can appreciate the craftsmanship of the film and acknowledge the fact that it’s certainly a Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic about the King of Rock-n-Roll. I should also point out the irony that the copy of the film sent by the kind folks at Warner Bros. arrived on my doorstep while I was touring Studio B in Nashville, Tenessee, where Elvis Presley recorded some of his biggest hits. But upon my return, being able to watch the film from the comfort of my own home and not crammed into the back section of the Philadelphia Film Center certainly makes a difference in the viewing experience. The film is bright, the music is louder and it looks gorgeous on the 4K transfer.

To get the specs out of the way, the beautiful “Elvis” 4K Blu-ray and the standard Blu-rays have the same special features; so no need to worry about missing out. I was particularly fond of the “Bigger Than Life: The Making of ELIVS” featurette as it gave me a deeper appreciation of what the film was going for. You can find the full list of special features below:
- Bigger Than Life: The Making of ELVIS
- Rock ‘N’ Roll Royalty: The Music & Artists Behind ELVIS
