Disney Kicks Off December with Trailers for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and ‘Indiana Jones 5’

It’s the Christmas season, and some presents have already started soaring our way.

The Mouse of the House Kingdom sent two trailers out for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Indiana Jones 5 (titled Dial of Destiny). The former is sold as the last time this particular group of outlaws will be together for another adventure. Simultaneously, the latter seems to reaffirm the “Indiana Jones challenging his age and mortality” theme when Kingdom of the Crystal Skull already sold us on that premise. Granted, nitpickers might say that the recent Cocaine Bear trailer blew up so much that Disney had to fetch something out of their pockets in time for the impending arrival of 2023; heck, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts also had something to say earlier.

It’s moments like this showcasing the power of nostalgia/Marvel-brand IPs that’ll give Disney some juice since Bob Iger returned to his position recently while Strange World bombed the box office. But, again, politics don’t get in the manner of their encompassing diversity, but how Disney+ has slowly deteriorated their skewed projections that once made it the most mighty company in Hollywood. Iger might need to consider rebalancing how to approach high-budgeted blockbusters vs. indie titles when shoving them on Disney+ when the time arrives.

In any case, Disney will be releasing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania, Guardians 3, The Little Mermaid, Elemental, Indiana Jones 5, The Marvels, Haunted Mansion, and Wish next year. A mix-and-match of IPs with some new Pixar titles might give them a more cohesive state, assuming Pixar doesn’t jump the gun for the streaming services warfare. When in doubt, pump the brakes, Disney.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 releases in theaters on May 5th, while Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny drops on June 30th. (Both trailers are linked below.)
