Perhaps a push, similar to Zack Snyder’s original version of Justice League, would convince Warner Brothers to sell the rights of Coyote vs. Acme to another distributor to get it in the multiplex.
According to several reports, Ketchup Entertainment is expected to acquire the rights for the film for roughly $50 million and, if so, would have the movie released sometime in 2026.
The live-action animated hybrid work is directed by Dave Green and stars Will Forte and John Cena. It was completed in 2023 before Warner Brothers shelved its release as a tax-write off, similar to their efforts in preventing Batgirl from being distributed as the DC Universe was replacing the notorious misguided DC Extended Universe. Amazon, Apple, and Netflix screened the movie but never made a solid deal come through to purchase the rights.
Perhaps it should be an endeavor that would do much goodwill, as folks have clamored to see the unreleased cut. Listening to your fans can be a wonderful thing. But note that online rumblings don’t equate to a box office return on investment. So whether it is purchased by this company or not, getting it out there has to redeem much of the folks’ time that willed it into existence.
