Taking place at a remote monastery with a mission for Aboriginal children in 1940s Australia, renegade nun Sister Eileen (Cate Blanchett) is faced with a choice when her new charge (Aswan Reid) is delivered in the middle of the night and appears to have special powers. Sister Eileen must decide between the traditions of her faith and the truths embodied in the boy when his Indigenous spiritual life clashes with the monastery’s Christianity.
