Oh shoot; let’s not recreate the Bite of ’87, please!
Comical sentiment aside, a real-life Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza will open in New Jersey sometime in 2027. In collaboration with ScottGames, the restaurant will offer quick-service dining with two animatronic stage shows: one with Freddy and the bank, and the other with Foxy the Pirate of Pirate Cove.
Atreyu Alcantar has stated (courtesy of Variety), “The only way this experience succeeds is if it’s created by a team that knows ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ inside and out…The animatronic show has to be authentic. The food has to be high quality. And above all else, we’re not building a set that looks like Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza – we’re building Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. This experience will immerse longtime fans in the world they’ve imagined for years while welcoming an entirely new audience to discover it for the first time.”
Of course, there will be horror elements involved, as the original game that came out in 2014 centered on the player avoiding the animatronics during night shifts, or they would meet their demise via jump scare. The IP has evolved into multiple games, lore, novels, and the two titular live-action films that earned over $500 million worldwide combined at the box office.
It’s fascinating to see how much a horror game has spawned a cornucopia of platforms across the media, and will now spawn its own restaurant. Best of luck to its business.
