NEON is excited to announce it’s landed North American rights to Francis Lee’s romantic drama Ammonite. The film, which is in post-production, is produced by See-Saw Films and stars Academy Award winner Kate Winslet and Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan. Francis Lee (God’s Own Country) wrote and directed the 1840’s set drama. Inspired by the life of the Victorian-era fossilist Mary Anning (Winslet), the story is set in 1840s England and revolves around the intense relationship between the infamous fossil hunter and a young woman (Ronan) sent to convalesce by the sea.
Kate Winslet is currently playing the title role in MARE OF EASTOWN for HBO and is also an Executive Producer on it.
Saoirse Ronan was recently nominated for her fourth Oscar for her leading role in Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” which has grossed over 100 million dollars. She will next be seen in Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch” opposite Timothee Chalamet, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Benicio Del Toro. Ronan is represented by CAA, Derik Mulvey and Relevant.
See-Saw Films developed the project with BBC Films and the BFI (awarding lottery funding). See-Saw’s Iain Canning and Emile Sherman (Widows, Lion, Shame) produced alongside Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly (Lady Macbeth), with Simon Gillis (See-Saw’s COO of Film), Mary Burke, Rose Garnett, Zygi Kamasa executive producing.
