The 42nd Annual Miami Film Festival will be held from April 3-13 this year, opening with Julie Delpy’s Meet The Barbarians and featuring nearly 200 narrative, documentary, and short films.
Delpy, Mark Duplass, and Oscar-winning filmmaker Roger Ross Williams will each receive the festival’s Impact Award; Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets) and Paul Feig (A Simple Favor) will receive the Precious Gem Award, and actor Billy Zane will receive the Art of Light Award following the screening of his most recent film Waltzing with Brando.
Actress and filmmaker Julia Stiles will screen her feature directorial debut Wish You Were Here and documentarian Ondi Timoner will be celebrated in this year’s Documentary program, showcasing her two newest films as well as screenings of some previous works.
Four films will have Anniversary screenings:
- Before Sunrise – 30th Anniversary screening on April 4
- Center Stage – 25th Anniversary screening on April 6
- Picnic at Hanging Rock – 50th Anniversary screening on April 13
- Pride & Prejudice – 20th Anniversary screening on April 8
Three marquee screenings will be held with post-screening Q&As with their talent present:
- Another Simple Favor
- Oh, Hi!
- Two Women
The MFF also features awards competitions, with prizes ranging from $2,000 to $60k. 35 films will be screened as part of a Special Presentation program, along with another 35 films receiving world premieres.
