MCT & The Horror Section to Produce Eli Roth’s “Ice Cream Man”

Media Capital Technologies (MCT) and The Horror Section are teaming up to finance Eli Roth’s new horror Ice Cream Man that follows a picturesque summer town descending into madness when an ice cream man serves children sweet treats with terrifying aftermath. Although further plot details are being kept under wraps, Roth will write and direct with an original idea he had for over 20 years but studios were hesitant to finance.

“I’ve had this idea for a long, long time, and studios were too afraid of my early drafts. Now’s the time to push the envelope farther than I ever have with what I think will be my most terrifying and insane film to date,” says The Horror Section Founder Eli Roth. “Films like Ice Cream Man are what we created The Horror Section for, to make unrated, boundary-pushing theatrical events the horror fans can all scream about for years. I’m very lucky to have such fantastic partners like MCT and, of course, all the investors in The Horror Section.”

The visionary behind the Cabin Fever and Hostel franchises as well as Thanksgiving, Roth launched The Horror Section in partnership with MCT as a 360-degree media company focused on creating robust library of intellectual property. The company will produce, acquire, and distribute a range of content, including independent theatrical films, TV series, video games, podcasts, and live events.

Roth will also produce along with MCT’s Christopher Woodrow and Raj Singh, and Cream’s Kate Harrison. MCT’s Connor DiGregorio and Eli Massillon and The Horror Section’s Jon Schnaars will serve as executive producers.

Media Capital Technologies is a financier that provides capital to multiple media and entertainment businesses, motion picture studios, independent production entities, and intellectual property rights holders. Ice Cream Man marks their debut as an independent project financier – an expansion from its role as Lionsgate’s primary film slate co-financing partner.

“Working with Eli is always a privilege, and this film feels fresh and exciting as it’s his first original project in the independent market in nearly a decade,” said MCT Principals Christopher Woodrow and Raj Singh. “We believe Ice Cream Man will mark the start of the next great horror franchise with massive commercial potential.”

Representing the international rights to the film, WME Independent will introduce the film to buyers in Cannes. The Horror Section has U.S. rights to Ice Cream Man and plans a wide theatrical release during the 2nd quarter of 2026. Filming is set to begin this summer in Canada.
